I have been listening to this album a lot recently, I think it is incredibly underrated, I would advise a listen.
Now that there is this bitterness in the air, may I recommend getting well wrapped up, and taking a walk listening to "Night Falls Over Kortedala". It will give you the warm, fuzzy feeling you require.
From Long Island, making lo-fi hazy pop music, Small Black are probably not going to be massive, but they are pretty special. Despicable Dogs was a Pitchfork Best New Music choice, but also check out Weird Machines on their myspace.
New album out in January 2010, which is very exciting. First song "Horchata" is doing the rounds now. They're also playing London this month if you're about.
After witnessing Nathan Williams go mental at Primavera, I thought it could be the end, nearly.
From Australia, they make incredible garage pop and write about girls. Thanks to Rose Quartz.
Following on from excellent All We Could Do Was Sing, Threadbare will be released at the beginning of October. There are a couple of tracks available from Stereogum, along with a lot of other very good mp3's.

The Field are back. They released first in 2007 with From Here We Go Sublime, and it was incredible. Now they are releasing Yesterday and Today on the 25 May 2009. It has more of the sampling genius of its predecessor, but also guests, including Battles' drummer John Stanier. My first listen opinion...incredible.
