Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

I have been listening to this album a lot recently, I think it is incredibly underrated, I would advise a listen.

Jens Lekman

Now that there is this bitterness in the air, may I recommend getting well wrapped up, and taking a walk listening to "Night Falls Over Kortedala". It will give you the warm, fuzzy feeling you require.

Girls

Hailing from San Fran, via a pretty sad childhood, Girls debut album Album has a lot of songs about girls. They are playing at The Bodega, Nottingham, on Friday 9th October, it's going to be amazing.

Small Black

From Long Island, making lo-fi hazy pop music, Small Black are probably not going to be massive, but they are pretty special. Despicable Dogs was a Pitchfork Best New Music choice, but also check out Weird Machines on their myspace.

Vampire Weekend

New album out in January 2010, which is very exciting. First song "Horchata" is doing the rounds now. They're also playing London this month if you're about.

Bon Iver

I saw Okkervil River the other day, this is Bon Iver doing a cover. Probably better than the original...

Wavves

After witnessing Nathan Williams go mental at Primavera, I thought it could be the end, nearly.
But he has returned with Zach Hill and created two amazing songs, Cool Jumper and Hula Hoop.

Royal Headache

From Australia, they make incredible garage pop and write about girls. Thanks to Rose Quartz.

The Babies

This is a collaboration of Vivian Girls and Woods, which is pretty good really.

Port O'Brien

Following on from excellent All We Could Do Was Sing, Threadbare will be released at the beginning of October. There are a couple of tracks available from Stereogum, along with a lot of other very good mp3's.

Cass McCombs

This is what Ryan Adams wants to sound like now, but he is rubbish, Cass
McCombs is good. Wait for 3 minutes, 2 seconds.

The Smith Westerns

I heard their song Be My Girl on Pitchfork, its really good. I bought their album, it is also really good. More garage pop music that sounds a bit like Jay Reatard. And from what I can found out, they are young, excellent.

Ganglians

These guys are on the same label as Woods, which is Woodsist (see 5th May 2009). I bought their self titled EP and album Monster Head Room today from Rough Trade, they were quite expensive...

My favourite song is probably Valient Brave, but I've only heard the album through once.

Japandroids

Japandroids are from Canada, their album is called Post-Nothing, its not been released in England yet, but it will be on 4th August. It is a really fun album, and the song Young Hearts Spark Fire is incredible.

Grizzly Bear

I really like their new album, it starts off really strong, track 2, Two Weeks is incredible, the middle section is good, and then track 10, While You Wait for the Others, will blow you away.

The Field

The Field are back. They released first in 2007 with From Here We Go Sublime, and it was incredible. Now they are releasing Yesterday and Today on the 25 May 2009. It has more of the sampling genius of its predecessor, but also guests, including Battles' drummer John Stanier. My first listen opinion...incredible.

Woods

This band were recommended to us, and we were told that they would fit our night perfectly. So with this in mind, I headed over to their myspace to have a listen. And then last week I bought their new record Songs of Shame, and it is really good, and it does fit our night perfectly. They are part of the lo-fi scene that includes Wavves, Crystal Stilts, and Vivian Girls, and are on the Woodsist label.

Blank Dogs

This is one of our favourite bands at the moment, and they are playing at The Bodega on 17th May with Telepathe, Times New Viking, and Lovvers among others at Spex Fest. It is going to be a stunning all day event. And its only 12 quid.

we are out of the woods...

I wanted out blog to just be outofthewoods.blogspot, but someone already had it, so i used 3 zzz, because that's what people are doing now.

I've not got much to say at the moment, but the new Woods album is supposed to be good, not heard it yet though.
